About Elephant in the Womb
I created this space with the hope of being able to provide even a few people with a resource they could rely on.
I curate evidence-based information so that you don’t have to search the web high and low to the answer to a question like “does my child have a fever?” or “is this change in my body normal?”. The answers to these questions shouldn’t be hard to find. I also have the privilege of sharing the lived experiences of others, to help support you on your healthcare journey.
Remember that your best resource for tailored health information is your primary care provider or your child’s, or the regulated health care provider that is accessible to you. If you don’t have a healthcare provider, there are ways to find one. In Ontario, check out Health Care Connect and IAmSick.Ca to start.
*Disclaimer: This blog is intended for informational purposes only. The information on this blog should not be used as a substitute to medical advice or medical treatment. As always, your Primary Care Provider, a doctor, or another health professional is your best resource for specific questions and medical advice. If you believe you or a loved one are experiencing a medical emergency, please contact 911.*
About Katie
I started this blog as a maternity leave boredom project, recognizing the risks above and the gaps in postpartum support. I guess I was trying to fill the gap in a small way – by providing curated answers to common questions and concerns in a format that is easily accessible to all.
I am not paid to write this blog or produce the podcast – I do them in my spare time because I feel passionately about the lack of access people have to basic health information. If you want to support my work, just looking at this blog does that – for a little extra, consider buying me a coffee to fuel my late night research sessions.
If you’d like to help me continue this work, consider buying me a book/resource (or coffee):
